Sheet Metal/Laser/Press Brake Operative

Reports to: Production Manager
Responsible for: No direct Reports
Effective: February 2023
Hours of work: Full Time 39 hours a week (Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.45pm with a 30 min rest period 12.45 to 1.15 and Friday 7.45am to 12.45pm)


Overall Purpose:

Serves sheet metal team by producing and assembling on time component parts from a manufacturing list to produce our varying cabinet range; resolving any parts queries to the wider team.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prime responsibility is to produce and assemble all the materials needed for the cabinet department, working to manufacturing lists and drawings
  • Set, program, operate and maintain press brakes
  • Set, program, operate laser
  • Operate spot welder
  • Monitor stock levels of sheet component parts and request the relevant parts required for the manufacture list
  • Ensure all jobs are fully assembled ready to handover to the next department
  • Daily machine total preventative maintenance checks
  • All materials delivered must be put away by the end of the shift in the correct tote pans and steel bar racks
  • Assist with repairs when required
  • Bring to the attention of the Team leader any non-conforming items or practices
  • Adhere to any current quality operating procedures, an up to date copy will be retained by the Operations Director
  • Ensure all tools allocated are kept safe and are on the correct shadow board and that pallet trucks are put away in your area
  • Communication across all departments to ensure products hit the required lead time and each team are kept in the loop with any delays
  • Excellent housekeeping to be adhered to at all times

28 days holiday (to include standard 8 statutory and other public holidays and 20 days’ normal holiday in each holiday year, from this entitlement, you must reserve annual leave to cover any periods during which we close down during the year).

Holiday entitlement rises from the beginning of year 2 of your employment, your holiday will increase by 2 days to 30 days per annum, total (22 days’ annual leave plus 8 statutory holidays, from this entitlement, you must reserve annual leave to cover any periods during which we close down during the year).

After 10 years continuous, your holiday will increase to 31 days in each holiday year, which includes all statutory and public holidays (23 day’s annual leave plus 8 statutory holidays, from this entitlement, you must reserve annual leave to cover any periods during which we close down during the year).
